Description

This theory course is designed to provide comprehensive review of surgical technology concepts and practical preparation for the national certification examination, including but not limited to: Preoperative preparation of the surgical patient; Intra-operative procedures; Post-operative procedures; Administrative and personnel; Equipment sterilization and maintenance; Anatomy and physiology; Microbiology; Surgical pharmacology; Medical terminology; Pathophysiology. This course is designed to review program content in an effort to improve the surgical technology student's preparation for the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certified Surgical Technology (CST) exam. PREREQUISITE: Students must be in their final semester of, or have graduated from, a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
