Description

This course covers the role of the paralegal in regard to criminal law. An overview of criminal law will include the definitions and elements of common crimes against persons and property as well as various legal defenses available to criminal defendants. Procedures of criminal law will be covered to highlight the constitutional safeguards from arrest through trial. Students will learn to draft legal documents associated with criminal litigation. PREREQUISITE: Admission to the Paralegal Program and PLGL 130 Paralegal: Advanced Legal Research and Writing, or instructor approval.
