Description

This course provides a basic understanding of the field of diagnostic medical sonography. The course will cover the history of medical ultrasound, the role of the diagnostic medical sonographer, related medical terminology, and a comparison of sonography to other imaging disciplines. Students will be introduced to sonography equipment and body imaging. Additional topics include professionalism, communication, patient care, vitals, medical ethics, legal issues, scope of practice, certification, and accreditation. PREREQUISITE: Students must be admitted to the program or have program director approval to enroll.
