As a multi-credentialed healthcare leader and educator with experience spanning over 35 years, it is my great privilege to witness our graduates grow into the healthcare professionals of tomorrow.   • Education & Academics: 15+ courses taught across HIT, medical assisting, and allied health; textbook reviewer/contributor for Cengage, McGraw-Hill, and Cognella. Implementation of curriculum for standards at the state level and for accreditation.
  • Public Health, Leadership, & Advocacy: Published work in the Journal of AHIMA. Presenter at the local, state, and national level over various healthcare topics/issue. Attended the AHIMA Advocacy Summit in 2025 to met with local legislatures over the MATCH IT Act and Advancing Non-Clinical Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Act of 202.5

Description

Provides an introduction to the administrative skills needed for a medical office. Students learn how to maintain medical records (both paper and electronic), manage appointments, and perform routine office duties. Focuses on the financial aspects of the medical office including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Students examine billing and collection procedures. Prerequisite: Admission to the medical assistant program or program coordinator approval.
